objective:

Our objective for the project was to transform and re-purpose an existing post and beam building and create a well designed, high performance net zero ready school building with a visually pleasing healthy indoor environment.  The existing building, built in 1988 had a poorly constructed envelope and was generally in need of major repairs.  There were several challenges we faced; We needed to re-design the building for a High School use while working within the limitations of an existing post and beam infrastructure. We wanted to retro-fit the building envelope and mechanical system for efficiency and we needed to accomplish this while working within a very limited budget.  With an integrated approach we put the design and construction team together early on in the process to weigh all options and pricing. Using a cost benefit and environmental analysis we were able to attain the best performing building within the budget.
