This is the former studio of Pill-Maharam Architects.

We are a small firm consisting of 3-4 architects. Each one of us are involved in all levels of project development. We maintain a collaborative atmosphere, with open design dialog throughout the day.

Site description:

Objective:

From an old dilapidated barn/ garage, on the grounds of a 1711 farmhouse, this project was developed. Using some of the existing components of what this old building was. An open architectural studio was created with passive solar heating and sustainable materials. Below, the footprint is divided into a workshop,storage and garage. A bank of windows on the southern wall of the studio allows passive solar gains, daylighting and wonderful views. The project was published in the Boston Globe Magazine in 1999 and in ‘The Inspired Workspace’ book.
